TMAX-VF1700 is a CE certified box furnace designed for materials synthesis under inert gas atmosphere with temperatures up to 1700 ºC. The furnace consists of high-quality alumina fiber bricks and Molybdenum alloy heating elements with an heating chamber. A vacuum-sealed steel chamber with water cooling jacket as well as the vacuum & gas flow control system enables material processing under inert gas atmosphere.

Furnace Structure

  1. Double layer stainless steel structure for maximum vacuum and safety, which can ensure a positive pressure up to 0.06MP and vacuum up to -0.09Mpa
  2. Water cooling front door and air cooling shell
  3. Built in pressure gauge, vacuum valves, and two gas float meters
  4. Built in H2 burning control system --- if the controller detects no flame in burner, gas delivery valve will be shut down automatically

Heating Elements

a)      6 sets of Mo coils heating elements are built in, and replaceable 

b)     The heating element of Mo coil is consumable parts which should be ordered separately if extra sets are required.

c)      Heating element can be replaced by MsSi2 to run furnace under oxygen and air up to 1700°C.

d)     Warning:   Mo heating element can not be used under air or oxygen at the temperature > 300°C

Gas Flow Control and Vacuum Valve

  4. One heavy duty vacuum pump built in bottom furnace.

H2 Gas Burning Control System
and Option Hydrogen detector

1.     An ignition device already installed to incinerate flowing gas and detect burner temperature to ensure H2 burner is in working condition. If H2 does not burn properly, the controller will shut down the H2 gas delivery valve immediately.

2.     Warning:  You must install a certified Hydrogen detector in operation facility to alarm hydrogen leaking b accident.

Water Cooling

A 16L/min recirculating water chiller is installed in bottom of furnace for cooling furnace sealing flange.

Application Notes

1.     Please EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION. H2 gas is highly flammable and explosive. H2 ignites at a temperature of 400°C, an explosion could occur when the hydrogen content reaches 4.0%-74. 2% in the air, please strictly follow the rules below to for safety operation.

2.     Inert gas MUST be used to purge the furnace chamber to eliminate all the air before introducing the H2 gas.

3.     The pressure inside the chamber should ALWAYS be controlled at 0.01-0.02 Mpa above the standard atmospheric pressure during the entire heating process, otherwise, the oxygen in the air may backflow into the furnace chamber and cause the explosion in the worst case scenario.

4.     Pressure over 0.02Mpa or below -0.05Mpa (Relative Pressure) is strictly prohibited.

5.     ALWAYS place the furnace in a room with a fume hood and a hydrogen detector installed.

6.     Good ventilation is necessary for the room in which place the furnace

7.     Exhausting Hydrogen gas in the room is forbidden.

8.     Must be used under inert gas or hydrogen gas environment

9.     For preserving the longevity of the furnace components, we recommend the heating rate not to exceed 10 °C /min.

10.  Small cracks may appear on the surface of the refractory ceramics over extended use. This is a normal occurrence and the cracks may be repaired with alumina coating.
